With one eye on providing excellence in today’s educational environment, and one always trained on adapting, enhancing, and transforming the facilities of the future, APPA seeks to create positive impact in educational facilities on three important levels:

  • APPA transforms individual facilities professionals into higher performing managers and leaders, which…

  • Helps transform member institutions into more inviting and supportive learning environments, which…

  • Elevates the recognition and value of educational facilities and their direct impact on the recruitment and retention of students, faculty and staff.

APPA used to stand for the Association of Physical Plant Administrators in the late 1960’s through the early 1990’s. Today, the association is known as APPA: Leadership in Educational Facilities, and is most easily recognized and referred to as simply “APPA.”

Covington, KY founded in 1815, is the largest city in Northern Kentucky and has the largest number of National Register historic districts in the state of Kentucky and known for its historic neighborhoods, buildings and small businesses.  Located directly across the Ohio River from downtown Cincinnati, Covington is home to many of Kentucky's premier events, restaurants and attractions including the Cincinnati Reds, Newport on the Levee Entertainment Complex, Kings Island Amusement Park, the world-famous Cincinnati Zoo, Hofbrauhaus,  Museum Center @ Union Terminal, the Newport Aquarium, Kentucky Symphony, Music Hall and the Creation Museum — plus much much more!  The South quite literally begins at our front door.  In fact, when you hear “Welcome to NKY” that also means “Welcome to the South”… where life is easier and the real soul of hospitality begins.  Find the Unbridled Spirit of Kentucky on display every day here – from the bourbon heritage of regional distilleries to thoroughbred horse racing, paddlewheel riverboats and chef-inspired farm-to-table dining.  Our unique style of South is what shines through... and in NKY you’ll find we do South with a bit of German fusion and a whole lot of sass.

Northern Kentucky University . #NKU

The 2019 SRAPPA Annual Conference is hosted by Northern Kentucky University located in Highland Heights, KY.

NKU celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2018! Founded in 1968, we are a growing metropolitan university of more than 14,000 students served by more than 2,000 faculty and staff on a thriving suburban campus near Cincinnati. Located in the quiet suburb of Highland Heights, Kentucky, just seven miles southeast of Cincinnati, we have become a leader in Greater Cincinnati and Kentucky by providing a private school education for a fraction of the cost. While we are one of the fastest growing universities in Kentucky, our professors still know our students' names.

It is our pleasure to bring together this year our colleagues from public and private universities, community colleges, and K-12 institutions for a great opportunity to learn, network, share and discover.
